Permagloss on underwrap then flexcoat on overwrap?

Just wondering if this is a good or bad idea. Could I coat my underwraps with permagloss, so I dont have to wait 8 hours and it will be easier to wrap the overwrap over it. Then do my final coat with flex coat? Did a search but I dont know if the 2 can come in contact or interact with each other. Re: Permagloss on underwrap then flexcoat on overwrap?

Do you need to CP your underwrap first? The PG will turn any regular nylon thread translucent. You should be fine with FC on your overwraps, over PG on your underwraps. And yes, it is a good way to save some time.
I've never done this combination, but Stan Grace (and, no doubt, many others) seems to use it all the time. [See: "Re: Thread tension on unfinished wraps" Stan Grace 10-23-04 10:26 -- "When I finish wrapping a rod, I give it a quick coat of PermaGloss to assure the wrapping is stable until I am ready to apply an epoxy coat." Won't hurt a thing, Al. The few times I do underwraps, I use PG on them with epoxy on the overwraps, and I also like to put a coat of PG on top of epoxy once it is cured. Re: Permagloss on underwrap then flexcoat on overwrap?

Like Mick said it will work.
When you start putting Permagloss over finish you have to wait till the finish is fully cured. Permagloss is hot stuff. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
