Flex Coat thin build over flex coat high build

I have several finished rods that I want to put decals on. They were finished with flex coat high build.

I was intending to put the decals on a portion of the blank that is already finished, and then put another coat of flex coat over the top. Since the rods are already finished, I don't want to build up the flex coat too thick.

Is it OK to put a layer of thin build on top of high build?

Yes

Apply the decal, scoff " around " the decal for adhesion.
Not under the decal or it will look foggy. A coat of CP over the decal will help to hold it down.

That's fine, but you CAN put high build finishes on as thin as you want, also.

That is the way I build all my rods. I even use that method for putting the feather alignment marks at the ferrules. The second coat of lite FC Lite is sufficent to cover the feather and give me a smooth finish. As Bill suggested, I use a coat of CP (811) over the feathers before putting the FC Lite on.
