Grinding fuji ceramic guides (fly rod)

I find these guides a bit difficult to fit snuggly onto my blank. Somehow there seem to be more "excess" material under the guides than what is the case with similar pacbays. How and where will the experienced rodbuilder grind these guides?

Thanks!

You might want to file the bottom of the guide foot with a round file similar in size to the blank diameter. I use varying size chain saw files mounted in a vice and file the bottom of the guides by sliding them along the file until the paint is removed and the guide foot is smooth and even. When that is done you can taper the top of the guide foot to a knife edge using a file or grinder. On the small single foot guides I use a diamond cut off wheel on my dremel tool to taper the top of the guide foot as it removes metal rapidly but slow enough to maintain control.
A final light buffing to remove burrs should leave you with a guide that fits well.

Occasionally guides that are to be place on a small diameter portion of the blank may need to be narrowed some to conform well.
