While cleaning off one of my fly rods I noticed that the guide wrap epoxy was getting dull where the fly line brushed against it. I don't think that I noticed this happening with a non-epoxy finish I had used in the past.
I don't know off hand which epoxy I used on this particular rod and will have to check my documentation, but is this a normal occurrence with modern thread wrap epoxies? Re: Guide Finish Dulling

With most, yes. If they are abraded they will dull. Epoxies are not as abrasion resistant as are the urethanes.
I can only suggest you try to keep some wax on your guide wrap finish. I'm not sure why the line would be rubbing the wraps, but without seeing it that's about all I can suggest. .............. Re: Guide Finish Dulling

I hadn't mentioned that my guides are snake guides, and the line does contact the wrap on each guide foot.
