What size cork ring should be used on a 8 1/2 foot saltwater rod?

Brian, i think it would depend on what is comfortable to you or your customer. if your not sure, maybe go for the 1 1/2" rings and shape them down until you get to a comfortable size. I've also read a past post about going to the local hardware store and holding different sizes of wooden dowel rods to get an idea of what might be comfortable for you. hope this helps

Brian,

Most likely I would pick a 1 1/4" ring. If I started with a 1 1/2" ring I would probably be removing the extra 1/4 of material when turning the grip, which is a waste of time and money.
