Hopes this makes you feel better about cutting off that wrap.
[www.rodbuilding.org] I should have included the 4 or 5 other wraps I ended up cutting off after they were epoxied & I have sitting in a drawer. I guess it's part of the game, just not a good part. Re: Aaarggghh!! Part 2 for Scott

Here is a link to the picture of the blotch in the butt wrap before Scott VanGuilder cut it off: [www.rodbuilding.org] Speculation on the cause of the dark blotch "Aaarrrgh!!!": ** Dye-bleed from unfixed spot on a very short length of the thread. ** Paint dissolving up from a pore in the rod blank finish. ** Ink from a marking pen, a stray stroke? ** Air-borne contaminant from person or air-conditionong system or insect. ** One of the visitors rains dirt when he leans over anything. ** Somebody in the house has it in for you. (Sorry, hate to be cynical, but, ...) That is all far-fetched, but something did it. That blotch is definitely not anybody's imagination. But it is also less obvious than I thought it would be from your original description and reaction. That's a beautiful wrap, Scott. Kinda like a diamond with a small inclusion. It's still a 10 in hardness + beauty. -LOL, -Cliff Hall+++ Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 09/19/2005 12:27PM by Cliff Hall. Re: Aaarggghh!! Part 2 for Scott

Truth is Cliff it looks blacker under normal light. I shot that picture under a very bright halogen light that I use for wrapping. My original post was from looking at it under normal light conditions.
One of lifes little lessons and I may never be really sure of what went wrong, but I tend to think it was one of the things you listed. Just need to be a bit more careful in the future. Billy, that'll teach ya to spend to much time in can:) Re: Aaarggghh!! Part 2 for Scott

SCott - I'm surprised you got as good a photo as you did. I was unable to get a clear shot of teh blotches when I had them, so I'm pretty sure it looks really a lot worse than in teh picture.
Rather than teaching me about daydreaming on teh bowl...it did teach me to not be lazy and write stuff down. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
