I am finally building a spinning rod for my son and I am considering using the American Tackle Vetre Matrix Handle to add sensitivity to the rod. I am not familiar with these handles/reel seats and I would appreciate any input you can offer on how well they work. Are they indeed more sensitive? Do they get slippery when wet or with fish slime? Durability??? I will be putting these handles on a St Croix 5S66MLF blank.
Thanks in advance for your valued input. Jim Smith Re: Vetre Matrix Handles from American Tackle???

No, I don't think they'll make your rod any more sensitive than a handle of cork or whatever else in the same general weight category. But, they work fine and look great. They're also "different" which is nearly always a plus when selling custom rods.

I agree with Tom said about the sensitivity. WIth their design, the handle is a little bit removed from the blank. But I do like the set up. Makes for a unique rod that is easy to sell. The mounted woven graphite handles that use the foam bushings do add quite a bit of sensitivity. Either way makes a nice looking rod that is something "different".
