Can you use Devcon 2 part epoxy for thread finishing?
Can you use it for gluing reel seats and cork grips to blanks? Just curious, I know it is available, but don't know the results. Any info is appreciated. Any other over the counter epoxies or adhesives work? Thanks, Dave Re: Devcon 2 part epoxy?

It is an adhesive and can be used for seats, grips, etc (although Rod Bond is much better suited due to it's gel like consistancy, working time and margin of error) but Epoxy finish is NOT an adhesive, but more of a casting resin. I doubt that Devcon would work for a finish

Basically what Mike said.
Don't use as a finish. It cures fast so it traps lots of bubbles, its yellowish, and sets up hard so it would crack the first time the rod is flexed. I use the 2-ton for reel seat mounting ( for longer working time), and the 5 minute for grips, reel seat assembly and small components. It works great for those applications. I like using the dual seringe dispensers because you can get an accurate 1:1 ratio in small quantites. Re: Devcon 2 part epoxy?

Like the others said, it works great for grips and reel seats. I personally prefer the 30 min. formula...plenty of time to adjust things and wipe "stray" epoxy off before it gets tacky. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
