For Minwax Helmsman spar urethane users

I use a lot of Helmsman spar urethane both for rod building and woodworking projects and thought I would pass this along.

Saturday I bought 2 new quarts and found that now it does not require mixing, it can be used right out of the can without stiring. A real plus IMHO.

Always read the labels. Akot of products should never be stirred or shaken. These actions will only introduce bubbles into the product which will probably end up in the finish.

I have used Helmsman spar urethane for years and it has always said to stir to mix, even some that I bought 2 months ago, until the can I got last week which says it does not require mixing. I agree it is a good idea to read the label. Not having to stir to mix is a plus for me as I use a couple gallons per year, mostly for non-rodbuilding applications.

Bob

Does it still have that slight yellow tint to it? Or should I say off color.

Bill

It does still has a off color, whatever it is in the can, but I just finished 10 guides with 3 coats of the new clear gloss yesterday and it dries crystal clear. The new stuff also seems to dry faster, it was dry to the touch in 4 hours.

Bob

PS: I posted a picture of one of the guide wraps on photo board, it looks better in person than the the photo as I have an old digital camera that doesn't do to well close up.
