Madeira Thread??

Does anyone know the diameter of Madeira, Polyneon #40 thread? And what about the breaking strenght? I know nylon, size A is .152mm with a break strenght of 2.7lbs. What about Madeira?

Hi Jim. Is there a reason you are asking? Is it breaking on you a lot? I am just curious because I am getting ready to make a big order and If there are problems other than it being smaller than A and the silicone thing I would like to know before I spend a lot of bucks.

The main reason I have asked the above question is for the layout to a pattern. On the breaking strenght, it would be nice to know compared to size A in nylon. I am going to start a wrap today using Madeira for the first time.

butt wrap, or weave? I think what Derek gave you is the exact thickness of 40wt. For butt wraps, the threads are on an angle, you pack tight/loose, etc - the meaurement I use to lay out my butt wraps is 4.15 threads per millimeter. I would not use this measurement for a weave though, I'd go with what Derek posted.

Strength - Gudebrod A is defiantely stronger - Polyneon is a lot stretchier thugh, and more than strong enough for rodbuilding & Embroidery.
