Push Pole Refinishing

Hello All-

Need to help a buddy refinish his 20' push pole. I am thinking a urethane would be my best bet but am hesitant to use as much Permagloss as it would take to get the job done. Any suggestions on a suitable finish?

The pole is about 2" in diameter and black in color. It is the pole included from the factory with Maverick flats boats and appears to be fiberglass. Any tricks other than obtaining a water break-free surface prep? Thanks in advance for your help.

Bill

have you tried to get a price from a body shop.
I am thinking of a base coat clear coat paint that is the same as the paint on cars. That would be best.
If they are to much, maybe a spray lacquer color and minwax spar urethain clear?

It also comes in a spray. let it dry about a week to be sure.

I am looking at refinishing a pole as well.

Does anyone recommend a LIGHT coat of flexcoat?

Thanks for the permagloss idea, I may go that route.

I'll tell what I'm doing, It's almost like Toms suggestion of the foam brushes with the exception that I hank mine up hanging straight down and cut a slit in a soft sponge (use latex gloves) I use Spar urithane and saturate the sponge then squeeze out a little then wrap the slit around the blank or whatever and slowly squeeze the end of the slit together then slowly pull down in one stroke. let that cote dry then do it again. works great. Praise God for this site and all the suggetions and things I've learned from it!!!! Sorry Tom and his hard work!!!!

Sorry Tom I know why you changed it but that's how I feel!!
