Al: I'm not sure, but I feel that the "Wards" in the name refers to Montgomery Wards. As to the age, perhaps the forties or early fifties? John

The rod is probably Montgomery Wards, although they primaraly used the name Sport King. As to manufacture my best guess is Montague, they built a lot of rods for many companies. It was probably made around the late 1940's thru the 1950's, even into the very early 1960's. They were good rods for their time, and if its in any kind of shape, ie. not warped , dried out , or broken; may even be fishable today
Good luck and good fishing
Larry
