marblizing

I read Mike Barkley's article in the library. I still have a couple of questions. I'm building a spinning rod with split grip on a butterscotch colored blank. I want to marble the split, and guide wraps. What color thread do you recommend for the wrap? Do you use a CP? Do you color the first coat applied to the wraps? Should I wrap the split? (Sorry for all the ?) MF

Martin,

Don't bother wrapping the split area as it would serve no purpose. If you are going to marble the wraps, thread color isn't real important either although I would use the color that is going to be you main color in the marble (just to make coverage easier) CP or no CP is a matter of preference and has no affect either way on the marbleing. I would definately use colored finish on the wrap. Using a clear base coat would serve no purpose.

Have fun with it! You'll love it. The nice thing about marbling is if you don't like it, just go over it.

Mike
