Good Flocking

I tried my first flocking today. The results were great. I bought the kit from Donjer and added the extra expense for the air gun. Once you try this the first time you'll get hooked. THe air gun is worth it. This process was easy and really COOL to do. I read the article again from the RodMaker Mag and the process is foolproof.

I have one question. When I received the material it was the Rayon and not the Nylon I thought I ordered. I checked the shipping and I did order the Rayon. Has anyone used the rayon on a grip before either on purpose or by accident?? The grip I sprayed today should be dry by the time I get off shift tonight. I'll post tomorrow how it looks, feels, etc.....

Rayon looks great, but long term durability on any item that is going to be used outdoors can't be guaranteed. The nylon will not rot even after repeated exposure to water. The Rayon, well....

This was one of the problems that I had worked with Donjer on before they started selling the rod grip flocking kits. Nylon is simply the only grip flocking material that can be guaranteed to hold up on a rod grip. I have had a couple of builders tell me that they've used the standard Rayon and that it seems to be holding up fine. So you may be okay, but only time will tell.
