Just regular old Gudebrod. Lots of color choices. Thread can be a little "big" in sizes though.

For decorative purposes, Gudebrod is very lacking. The only thing Gudebrod has over the Embroidery metallic threads, is their HT is stronger, by a wide margin. The colors are not as vibrant, the QC is awful, the threads seperate from the core, you can't powerwrap too fast or the thread heats up and breaks, the thread is thicker.

i know a few Aussies who like using Mettler thread, although I'm not sure exactly which.

I've used Mettler Polysheen with favorable results. Also have tried Mettler Metrosene and found it AWFUL.

Mettler Poysheen seems to be very similar to Madeira Polyneon 40.

Just stay away from Mettler Metrosene.

Hope this helps.

I have been using quite a bit of Mettler. It has a huge colour range and I have found it good to use. There are a few little quirks you should be aware of. It can be a little harder to pack and tends to fray if you push and pull too hard. I haven't had any other problems with it and because it is more available to us in Australia than the Madiera, it gets my nod of approval. It also tends to hold its colour longer and better than most other threads I've used.
