Hello all,
I am about to make my first foray into using a high build finish ( flex coat). Does anyone have any advice for a first timer? When I opened the package I noticed that there was moisture inside both of the syringes, does anyone have any ideas what this might be and if I should be concerned with it? cheers Jeff Re: high build flex coat

No, it's a sort of lubricant to keep the plungers from getting stuck and will not affect your finish (it's not silicone).

The high build's can be put on to whatever thickness you desire. A bit of a learning curve and you should be fine with FC High Build. Too little and it'll leave thread bumps. Too much and it'll football, drawing the finish from the ends of the wraps (leaving thread bumps on the ends of the guide wraps) and a large lump of finish in the middle of the guide wrap. Try to shoot for inbetween these two extremes :) Putter Williston, ND Re: high build flex coat

Here is the way I use the FC high build.
1. Mix at least 2.5 ccs of each in a small foil bowl (foil wrap made into a small bowl works fine). 2. Mix very slowly for at least 3 minutes or until clear. 3. Pour out onto a flat piece of foil to extend pot life and allow bubbles to pop. 4. Apply with cheap nylon throwaway brushes. 5. Apply enough to saturate threads starting at the guide foot working toward the ring (this ensures that the tunnel is filled) 6. Go back with a clean brush and remove as much excess as possible while hand turning the blank. 7. Use very light flame from alcohol lamp to get rid of any bubbles. 8. Repeat steps 1-7 after 24 hours. I usually do two coats as stated above and get a nice low build finish that will cover the threads and not football on you. I do the same for FC lite and basically get the same results.
