I am interested in trying quick grip on some upcoming s rod handles is lieu of the cork tape I have been using. I have never used quick grip,so an advice would be appreciated.
One specifice question that comes to mind is what to do where the quick grip "interfaces" with the reel seat as well as at the top of the foregrip. I have been using thread and finish on my cork tape rod at these locations...do I need to do the same for quick grip? Thanks in advance! Scott Hunt Re: Quick Grip use for grips on saltwater rods

You don't "need" to do it, as the material will shrink down and hold tight. But I think it will look a lot better if you do trim those areas just to give the handle a little more polished look. Even black thread and epoxy will finish it off, but you could also use those areas to tie into the wrap colors.
You may also want to consider wrapping some nylon cork under the Quick-Grip. Something in a spiral or diamond pattern, just to give the stuff a little more "grip.' Just an idea. It's not necessary, but is something else you can do if you want to. ...... Re: Quick Grip use for grips on saltwater rods

How will quick grip work on top of cork tape? I have a couple of rods that have had heavy use and the cork tape is starting to wear. I know I can redo the cork tape, but I was thinking that this might be a little more resilient. Any opinions???
Thanks Tony Re: Quick Grip use for grips on saltwater rods

Hi Tony,
How are you? Qucik Grip, Shrink Tubing, works great as an efficient and fast repair of grips. I have filled in the holes of damaged synthetic grips with U-40 Rod Bond and then installed the Quick Grip right over it. I would use it over the cork also. I usually install a diamond wrap of heavy mono or cordage first and then the Quick Grip. Layout the crossover points at a distance of your liking. This gives a better grip.
