old stand up rod reel seat problem

i have a friend that has an old stand up rod...do not know what brand
of rod or what year...the reel seat moves or spins around the blank...
the handle & fore grip are wood...he whats me to take the rear grip
off & glue the seat back in place...what is the best way to fix...

Bryan,
There is several ways you can do it. First you can pop off the back grip, by heating the reelseat and twisting off the wood grip then you should be able to pop off the reel seat, then reglue everything back on. Now without seeing a picture their might be an easier way of doing it without taking off the back grip.

If it is a tubular blank you can cut the rod into at the center of the reel seat, remove the two pieces of reel seat and clean the blank, make an internal plug that is a little longer than the seat, prepare bushings or arbors, glue the plug into both ends along with the new reel seat all at one time. Make sure the seat is lined up with the guides to the front and gimbal to the rear.Jesse
