Spinning rod ferrule fit question

I am building two ultralight spinning rods for a guy out of two 6'6" 2wt fly rod blanks. One is a amtak matrix blank and the other is a rainshadow. When I was laying out my guides last night I put the rods together (male into female ferrule), the rainshadow went about an inch and a 1/4 into the blank as expected. The matrix blank however went about an inch longer than that. Almost like I pushed past something inside the female end. Now, I did not put any more force than usual when putting it together, and I do not see any splits in the female end that would allow it to expand further. I plan on wrapping the female ends the length that the male fits into it with thread. Will this be okay? Is it just different variations of how far they go into the blanks? I can explain to the guy that rod building is not an exact science and he will understand that, but if the rod is not right do I need to get that piece replaced? The whole reason behind building two was that he wanted two identical length rods for him and his wife.

If the rods are the same lenth when put together, then I would say that one was ment to go further inside the blank then the other. If the 6'2" ends up being 6'1" when asembled you migh want to call the manufacturer and check if it is a problem. Re: Spinning rod ferrule fit question
