I found a number of electrical shrink wrap product ,some thicker than Quick Grip. Are they usable as rod grips? Do they shrink at a low enough temperature?Which one is Quick Grip?I' m looking forward to trying them on 3 new large surf rods. Re: quick grip/ shrink wrap

I have seen some very nice grips produced by using shrink tubing over a pattern laid out in cord.
Looks pretty nice, but I am having problems finding it in rod building diameters. Derek Re: quick grip/ shrink wrap

A friend told me he tried it and the rod melted just as the heat shrink shrank.DO some of the shrink wrap products shrink at a higher temperature? Re: quick grip/ shrink wrap

Funny that. I've used the stuff for surf rod grips and they always shrank at a pretty low temp. Some shrink just with a hair dryer set on low, others a little higher. Either way, most stuff shrinks okay with kettle steam. The thing to do is keep the heat moving, otherwise the localised area will get too hot. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
