Split reel seats?

Forgot one thing in my last post. I like the new skeletal designed reel seats with the blank exposed. Is there any places out there or can I take a good Fuji and do some shaping to get what I need and still have a good finish after proper sanding? If they are not good ones available, which reel seats are the good ones for bait casting reels. I'll be building a bulging wood handle split grip designed for comfort and a lot of time will go into these.

I don't think any company makes a bad - Cushioned Seat? - Just depends on how much you want to pay for one.

Well? I don't want to spend $100 on a reel seat. I guess what I'm asking is there one out there that comes in 2 pieces. The trigger rear support and the front with the screw clamping mechanism. If none are available, can you recommend a good one to do some carving on to get what I want? I'm not sure what the cushioned in your post refers to.

Graphite Ssats are usually 3-5 bucks. Try a search of this site. Think Fuji makes one that has a detachable trigger.

Another confuser? I think all you want is a Fuji ECSM seat. I think it costs $4. I'll sell you mine for $40.

Billy's right. You want to purchase a Fuji ECSM seat that will fit and basically cut out the middle. I have a picture of one of the photo page. If I have time I'll take some pictures of where exactly I cut mine, and how I finish shaping them.

If you are inclined, you can cut any casting seat. Sand it well color it, or not, and then do your tapper insert.

Hay Billy, that's a good price considering Fuji wants 50 for there painted ones

Gary, your address is hidden so we can't e-mail you. You need to go into your profile (at the top of messages) and verify e-mail so that it will show when someone clicks on your name.

Ok, the email should be working now.

I found this reel seat that looks like it will make a comfortable trimmed seat. This post was more or less a curiousity issue. It won't be a problem to make a nice one. I just wasn't sure how they would finish up with a little sanding.

The post I am very concerned about is the one about the blanks. I am totally lost on that issue.

Scott,
Excellent work with the ecsm seat, great look and function! I'm building my first casting rod now and would appreciate any hints how you cut and polished it! Thanks, Mike

Many thanks Putter!
The name George Roth rang a bell when I read it in the above post looking at the pics, but I couldn't remember the link. Much appreciated, Thanks again for your help!
