Bright marbelizing color

When marbelizing my colors seem to blend together not a stand out red,blue whatever.What am I doing wrong or not doing? I use commercial paint pigment look good in the bottle and on the aluminum foil.Thanks for any help.

If you apply the various colors too soon - when the epoxy is still fairly thin and flows easily, the colors run together easily. If you wait a bit longer, when they're a little more set, they will remain more distinct when mixed and swirled.

Tom gave some good info; each finish has different characteristics of how fast it sets up and such that affect this.

I usually put the base coat on and wait 15 min or so before marbling (LS Supreme Hi Build) Like Tom said too thin and it's going to blend. I leave the base color in the mixing cup and do my other colors on foil. I find that waiting about 15 minutes gives me thw consistancy that I prefer.

Keep in mind that marbleing is strictly personal. Some like stark contrasts other like more muted "cloud" like blends. There is no right or wrong way. Get some old rod pieces or dowels painted black and play!! I know Putter and I both have gone through a lot of old blank pieces and scrap.
