Hi all,
My Brother sent me a Fenwick SH962 2 piece 8' honey fiberglass blank. I assume the "SH" refers to "steelhead" and I think this is a 8wt or 10wt flyrod blank but not really sure? Is anybody familiar withthis blank? I emailed Fenwick but no reply yet. Maybe I need to call them. I do know this blank is about 20 yrs old. Thanks in advance, Raymond Adams Eventually, all things merge, and a river runs through it.. Re: Help with a Fenwick SH962

Been I while since I messed with a Fenwick, but I believe you have a 2 power spin/cast blank. The fly blanks had an "F" in the part number. 2 power if I remember right was 6 to 15 lb line rating. Re: Help with a Fenwick SH962

Raymond
You are indeed correct about the rod for the most part. The SH is to designate it as a steelhead rod.the 96 refer to the length in inches,96 equals 8 feet. The 2 denotes it as a blank with a power rating of 2. As for its use, they were for casting or spinning rods, not flyrods. Off the top of my head, as it isn't shown in the few catalogs I have, I would say its best line range is 8 to maybe 17 lb test and 1/4 to 5/8 ounce lures. I still have some of those in a one piece length. They sure made fun light tackle salt rods that were used by several of us back in San Diego before I moved east. Good crawdad casters (or for any soft baits) also. Chuck Re: Help with a Fenwick SH962

Thanks Chuck and Spencer,
My brother wanted me to build it as a spinning rod. He and I are happy to know thats what it was designed for! Slammin hook-ups all Raymond Adams Eventually, all things merge, and a river runs through it.. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
