Turncrafter Pro Lathe

Was thinking about getting myself a new lathe and was very interested in the Turncrafter Pro for it's price. But I want to see how it may compare to the Jet or Delta in the same class. Anybody have some comparison knowledge of these machines?

Thanks,
Steve

The specs are almost identical between the Turncrafter Pro and Jet. They even look pretty much the same. I wouldn't be surprised if they came of the same assembly line in the Orient!

I have the TCP and love it! Penn State has a very good warranty/service reputation and for $175 with the extension bed, I think that it 'w hard to beat Penn State also has a great selection of chucks/accessories at good prices

I just bought one, and it's everything Mike says it is. Now I have to learn how to turn my handles. Look out Andy, my orders gonna be coming soon!! BTW be careful about the chuck you get. I got the Nova chuck, just have to have too many extra sets of jaws.

When ordering any chuck, you need to closely read the spec and make sure that the working dimensions work with the wood sizes that you will be using it with

Mike,

I wasd trying to explain that to the guy at the WoodCraft store and he hooked me up with the 20 mm Jaws. Way too small. I may just take a trip back down there and exchange them for some larger ones.

Here is a real nice inexpensive 4 jaw chuck that will handle just about any stock that a rodbuilder will be using (13/16" to 3 1/2" stock
