I would take a look at the Seeker Ulua blanks. I don't have a catalog here in front of me or I would give you some numbers.

Marylou,
Shark fishing from piers and the surf are my specialty. The rods that I use for that are 1 piece gator glass blanks. I useually take the 11' 6'' blank that mudhole sells and cut it down from the top to 10ft. The guides that I use are turbo guides, and I useually put 7 on the rod. Anyways the gator glass is truely unbreakable, and me and my fishing buddies have landed plenty of 5-6ft spinners and blacktips from the pier and suf with 30lb test and a penn squidder. Also if you want to go heavier a 4/0 Penn Senator wide with 40-50lb test works great if you can throw it. Personally I have had sharks too big to galf pierside with that set up (most recently a 10ft tiger, and 8ft bull). Good luck with that, and also if 1 piece is a problem get a two piece seeker and cut it to 10ft evenly, mudhole's got those too.

Tight lines,
Anthony

Are you going to cast and fish with the same rod, or use a longer surf rod for an anchor rod and then fight the fish on a shorter rod that will offer you a lot more power?

Hey Guys,,,,,,
Thanks so much for your input. This will be my first time to fish for shark, you guys have been a big help. I already had a idea of using the turbo guides, but just was not sure which way to go on the rodblank.

Many Thanks......
MaryLou

Anybody tried the MudHole "Surf Rocket" Blanks? (page 22, 2005 Catalog):
LSBF-136-3M Fiberglass 2-pc 11'6" 4-8 lure 1.025" 12/64" 13oz $55.
What type of ferrule union is this? -Thanks, -Cliff Hall-

Mary, I suppose you could set them up any direction you wanted to. I set mine with the guide legs facing the reel.

You may be better off with a Joss West Custom Cue. You can get one for approximately $ 1,875.00 on @#$%&. Then you can easily go to the local pool hall and hustle the nearest "shark" to your house. There ain't no piers or salt water in West Texas!

Did you use the Purple and Gold Decals I sent you?
