I am putting together my order from one of the Boards' sponsors. I want to build a bumper-wrapped Calstar GFGR 600XL. The blank has a butt OD of 0.76" and I want to know if hypalon w/a 0.5" ID will work or if I need to go with a smaller/larger hole in the hypalon. Also, what is the best size ID reel seat for a blank this size? Lastly, how can one tell which Fuji guide has a low frame? I have searched the archives and have found many, many guide designations. I want to use low frame two foot guides for the stripper, bumper, and following guide and then single foot the rest of the way. This will be for a 20 lb. rod and any recommendations for guides (from any manufacturer) are welcome.
Thanks, Morgan Re: GFGR 600XL Reel Seat/Grip Size

If the guide part number has an "N" it's a low frame double foot guide, high frame a "V". The board sponsors that carry this blank also have handle kits spec'd out for it I'm sure. A 20 reelseat will have the right ID and long enough and wide enough for any reel's foot you will probably use.
The guides you mentioned should hold up well if the rods not banged around alot. Re: GFGR 600XL Reel Seat/Grip Size

Which singlefoots are you planning to use? IMO, there are no good single foot guides for a 20# blank because these rods are usually beaten up a bit. THe Hypalon size you picked is fine. Reel seat size - I just put a Nonslip Fuji 20 on an 800L, cut a bit and it fit snugly. Fuji BMNAG 20 or 26 is what I would use as a stripper, what reel? Re: GFGR 600XL Reel Seat/Grip Size

Let me correct myself - there are no lo frame single foots suitable, imo. REgulay Y frames are fine, but the small fly rods guides, on rods which get beat upa bit aren't a good match. My bad for not specifying. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
