Rough finish w/ Permagloss

I just colored a rod with Krylon Fusion and covered with two light coats of Permagloss. The blank was smooth as a baby's butt after the paint but rough as a cob after the Permagloss. I put it on with a Flexcoat brush while turning on my dryer motor. Let each coat turn in the dryer for at least 6 hours and the paint had at least a week to dry before I put on the Permagloss.....What did I do wrong? and how do I get the smooth finish back that I had with just the paint. It looked good enough with just the paint but I was afraid the paint wouldn't hold up to use. Re: Rough finish w/ Permagloss

This happens with Krylon Fusion and some gloss coats like Permagloss....It is a chemical reaction of some sort and I think this may have been covered before so an archive check may prove helpful. This will also happen with Appliance Epoxy Spray Paint as well.....It DOES NOT react like this to Spar Varnish however....Which is what I use,

Permagloss has a pretty "hot" solvent in it. Also, I find I get a smoother finish with it by a quick pass with a Permagloss wetted piece of cheesecloth. It doesn't look nearly as good if you try to apply it with a brush. A foam brush, however, wetted with Permagloss and passed quickly down the length of the blank generally provides a very smooth and slick surface.
Permagloss is great stuff, but there are some minor tricks to applying it and getting a really nice finish with it. .......... Re: Rough finish w/ Permagloss

Ooooohhhh..... I thought you had to put it on similar to flexcoat. I turned it for several hours after I put it on...ha ha.....seems easier to just quickly wipe it....Now......How do I get back to smooth so I can coat it again the right way? Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
