Hi all I was just wondering if a BBQ rotisory spit would work on as a motor to turn my rod on the wraping machine or would it be too slow?
Thank you Tyler Re: wraping machine motors

It would be pretty slow for that task, unless you could speed it up somehow with gears or pullys

Who many RPM's does it need to be?

Sewing Machine Motors work great. that's what you need, variable speed. Bill in WV Re: wraping machine motors

If you are building a wrapper and not a dryer, you pretty much need a variable speed fairly high speed foot controlled motor to handle the stop/start needs of wrapping thread. On the other hand, for a drye, 3 rpm up will do fine.

Tyler,
In that case, a BBQ motor would be fine I tried to send you an e-mail but your address is hidden. You need to go into the "My Control Panel" button at the top and confirm your E-mail address. E-mail me at mbarkley@wowway.com Mike Re: wraping machine motors

A lot of guys use the motors out of old microwaves, the ones with a turntable in them. Come in different RPM', usually slow but will turn rod's. I have a couple turners I've made from these. If you look at your local salvage place you can probly find them real cheap and sometimes even free. Bill in WV Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
