Question for TK and Other Flockers: Flocking ABS Tubes?

I just read your flocking article in the library, and I'd like to get your experienced perspective.
I've looked at the Donjer website before. I'm constantly trying to discover an attractive alternative to the aluminum rod tube. ABS is great. Tough, light, cheap, but ugly. But black flocked ABS?
Are there cheap alternatives to the adhesive that Donjer sells?
How far would a bag of flock go if you're treating 28" ABS tubes?
Do you think the process would be compatible with ABS?

You could certainly do it, but I don't think you'd find it to be very cost effective. That's a pretty good area to cover and while some use paint instead of the actual adhesive that Donjer sells, it doesn't hold the fibers nearly as well nor as long. The bags that are coming in the kits probably wouldn't do more than 2 such tubes. Again, that's a lot of overall area to cover. The adhesive would go a long way and probably allow you to cover several tubes, but it would take a lot of flock.

The only other item that I have found to be cost effective to flock is a two piece toilet seat. The LSU fans want a seat set done in opposition colors and will pay dearly! The ones in red and black for Auburn and Alabame are big sellers! I get enough for a seat that I can give away a free rod in the deal!

Thanks Tom
I guess that brings us back to aluminum tubes. I wonder if anyone sells the caps and aluminum tube in lengths that could be cut down on demand.

I'm pretty sure that both REC and Golden Witch do, and they're both sponsors here.
