I would like to build a rod on a Dancraft blank that is somewhat comparable to a 9ft 5wt Sage XP 4pce. Has anyone here built a rod on one of Dans blanks trying to achieve this. Which would be a closer match for the XP, the Sig V or the FT? Also would I have to maybe build on a Dancraft 4wt to match an XP 5wt?
All help greatly appreciated, Thank You. Re: Dancraft/ Sage XP comparison

You won't get an exact match but the 9' Dan Craft FT is slightly faster than a 9' Sage XP given the available data on the CCS Site. If I wanted to accomplish what you wish to achieve I would use the Dan Craft 4# to more closely match the Sage 5#. The Sig V is a lighter blank than the FT but it is slower. Dan's Sig V are 3 piece blanks, the ones I've built were lighter than a same length factory Sage XP and cast/fish just as nice in every way, at least in my hands. Even some of the Sage owners say so, the only thing they have got me on is resale value in our talks. People get more honest and mellow while passing around the single malt scotch flask. If you fish a rod a few years than change up to the next new thing, by the Sage. You may not come out better price wise from new to used, but you'll have a bigger customer base to sell to. My Dan Craft 10 ft 7wt and 9 ft 10 wt have paid for themselves twice over in my enjoyment and they are going nowhere. Next are a Dan Craft 5 piece 5 wt Sig IV, and an 8 wt FT drift rod.
