I have an Allstar rod to repair for a friend. Just a single guide replacement...The problem is, it looks like the finish on the windings is red tinted and has glitter in it. Can these things be added to Flexcoat ? and if so, where can I get them? Re: glitter in finish

Hi Steve,
I have never tried to tint Flex-Coat yet but I know it's possible. Flex-Coat sells a package of their epoxy with glitter included but I am sure you could also buy some fine glitter elseware to add to the Flex-Coat you already have. Good Luck & Tight Lines! The real fine glitter sold in craft stores such as Michaels works great and comes in many colors. Make sure you get the ultrafine and keep in mind that a little goes a long ways. You can use tints/pigments in finish but again - minute amounts (a dap on the end of a toothpick. You could use Testor's paints. Test it on scrap first to make sure it is the effect that you want though

You can probably get red "glitter flake" from one of the sponsers or just hit a craft store for red glitter and add it directly to flexcoat...don't use too much as mentioned. It'll be really close to those rods. ( red gudebrod 326, no cp, gold trim?) Re: glitter in finish

You can get good color results with a drop or two of concentrated food coloring , go easy on it until you get the effect you want.

Steve,
If you are repairing a classic rod then the thread color is gudebrod 326 nylon (no color preserver) with silver glitter. There is no tint in the finish. Regards, Sharon Johnson All Star Re: glitter in finish

Sharon, I can find Gudebrod 326 in Nylon and I can find it is NCP (No Color Preserver) Am I to assume that you meant that you used the nylon but just didn't use Color preserver? Re: glitter in finish
