Broke the tip off the Fly Rod I was building. Fixable???

Earlier I inquired about guides for a SC3, 9ft. 7wt. Today I broke the tip at about 6" from the end just as I was finishing off the wraps. Of course I have to get a new one for the customer but what can I do with the broken rod. Repair doesn't seem likely, A shorter rod, maybe. Scrounge a new tip section, Iffy. Trouble is, I've never fly fished so I don't have any use for it even if I can salvage it but I hate to be out the $$$. Just an expensive lesson and be more careful where I stick my arm? Sure did break easy.

Larry,

I don't know where you got the blank but St. Croix warrantees their blanks. You should be able to return it and get a new section for a reduced price.

Get a hold of St Croix, I have found them to be more then fair in my dealings with them. As have all the blank manufacturers I've worked with. They can replace the broken tip.

St. Croix has been great when I've dealt with them; overnighted a replacement Spey rod to me as I was leaving for a trip the next day. More than I can say for some manufacturers, for sure!

Well, I sent a note to St. Croix Service Dept. Any one in particular I could/should call?

Should have thought about contacting St. Croix but I'm still in a MOOD.

In the library above you can find excellent instructions on how to repair that broken tip if you are interested.
