I'm about to buy the flex coat cork lathe set and turn out a few of my own handles. I spin on the blank rather than on a mandrel, and I was wondering what kind of drill chucks are out there to grip the end of the handle while I'm turning. My teacher had a really great looking one, but he said it's no longer made. I've been looking around at some chucks, but they all seem "finish" grade and not up to the challenge of some higher speed turning. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

The chuck that we put on our drying motors and power wrapping motor can be fitted with a quarter inch straight shaft. By doing this you can chuck it up in a drill chuck on our RL100, cork turning jig, and then push the butt cap on your rod handle into the rubber faced chuck. As long as the hole in the rubber face is smaller than the butt cap on your rod it should hold tight enough to turn cork. I do not think that it would hold strong enough to turn foam. To get a rubber diaphram cuck face with a small enough hole we sell a rubber diaphram with quarter inch hole in the center. If this size hole is to small you can cut a larger hole to better suit your needs.
