hasen't turned out like I expected. The finish is lumpy, uneven on large area....( decal area...and stripper guide ). Smaller guides turned out ok.
I have gone back over the area with the spatula, heated the area in an attempt to thin the finish, FC lite, and the finish is still uneven and lumpy.
It's in the dryer now and I'm afraid it is not going to level out anymore. I'll go back and re-read all my info, but, anyone have any comments.

It shouldn't be the spatula. Most all finishing epoxies will self level.......if you allow it to. You should be able to use anything to goop epoxy onto your wraps and come out with a good finish. The key is letting the epoxy level itself and remove the excess. That excess is probably where your lumps are coming from. After applying the finish don't be afraid to let the rod sit for a minute or two without touching or turning it. After 30 seconds or so you'll most likely think to yourself "OMG that's going to drip!". GOOD! Let it drip & wick off the excess that collects at the bottom of the wrap. Then allow it to turn & cure.

If you have waves, etc. with Flex Coat Lite, I think you're probably putting way too much on. The lite or regular build finishes won't support themselves when put on in anything but a very thin coating.

Try a high build finish if you want to put a thicker coat on the rod. Nice thing about high build finishes is that you can put them on thin, also. No high build can be put on too thick, though. There is a maximum thickness that even a high build finish will support and each brand has it's own properties on this and other things.
