Fishing break

Is it just me or do all of you have orders pour in as soon as you decide to slow down for a month so you can get some fishing in? I really want to go chase some summer run steelhead and made a concerted effort to slow down taking orders for the month. As soon as I did, the phone started ringing off the hook. I'm finding myself slowing down at the seafood cooler in Safeway just for fish smell. I may need intervention.

Raise your prices -- it will slow down. Or you will make even more money??

Problem is all the other people are fishing and then the realize the sustandard rod they have or they use a friends spiral wrapped rod and need to have one now.Nobody thinks about this during the non-fishing times.

In the summer people usually find the air conditioner does not work or the heater in winter
When there is a foot of snow on the ground, no one thiks of checking and see how there rods are ?

Hi Jeff

Bills first thread is a great idea. I have had the same problems in the past and found raising prices gave me more time and the same amout of money or more. It always amazes me how we dont think twice about paying a lawyer $200 per hour to have his law clerk type a letter or make a phone call but cant get what we deserve as true craftsmen. RODBUILDERS OF THE WORLD UNITE !!!!!!!!! Sorry got carried away. Anyway raising prices has worked for me. How else can you get in the Research and Development time in?

I like what Tom said in his artical, If you sell to everyone - your prices are too low, no one, they are too high.
