Put it on and heat it up. I've thinned it one time with Acetone when I re-finished a blank, I didn't have any problems, but I don't think that's the safest product to use on blanks.
I have also mixed it with Aftcote, equal parts A & B of BOTH finishes, it did set up just fine. I do not remember if it was thinner, if it had longer pot life, but it did release bubbles & was clear. I think I was trying to see if I can find something in between both finishes, something not as hard as GC, yet not as rubbery as Aftcote. Re: GlassCoat

Personally,I think it's the best out there..IF ,you can get it on the rod quickly..it'll start to thicken in 7-10 minutes depending ot room temp. Crystal Coat, Permagloss & Glass Coat are in my arsenal.
Glas Coat: Mix 50/50..& use a needle to fill the tunnels..then slap ( pun there..be somewhat careful) it on the guide wraps & get it on the rotator. Then apply some GENTLE heat from a Bic lighter to temporarily thin the stuff & let it go. Check it in 10 minutes for any big ol' bubbles that might form. IF you have any..hit them with the flame(GENTLY). You can fish that rod in 4-5 hours. I REALLY prefer to mix 2 batches..one for the above..then another fresh batch for the buttwrap area. Guys,
thanks for the tips. I had been using Klass Kote for a while and decided to switch back to glass coat. I just prefer the clearness of glass coat. It is substantially thicker and i am having trouble adjusting to it. This is why i wanted to thin it. Thanks G Re: GlassCoat

YOu guys use a lot of GC, have you compared how it Yellows after some use, compared to other epoxies? All my wraps are done with GC, built it in a lot of coats, quite thick - it has yellowed worse than any other finish I've tried.
Nothing is perfect, and I like to complain. Sue me. Re: GlassCoat

Billy - your color choice includes many many light ones - as Jesse says finish over black don't yellow!!

Bill - it made 245 Blue over Blue metallic, look Greenish. I took Jesse's advice, and limited teh amount of light colors on my rods - when it yellows to teh point where dark threads change, it's not good.
Black - no comment. Re: GlassCoat

I just started using LS high build. Did not like it the first time I tried it but a secound time guess I am getting used to it. I find the Glass Coat in warm weather or a warm room just does not Flow out as nicely as a Slower Setting epoxy Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
