I know that the loomis venture series fly reel has a shimano counterpart. I too was told they were owned by the same company. Re: Loomis

Shimano has ownly invested in Loomis. I was led to believe that Shimano did buy Loomis. However, this past spring while in FL, a Loomis pro staffer told me it was merely an investment. Re: Loomis

Loomis was sold to Shimano several years ago, lock, stock and barrel. For the last several years up until recently the person running the Loomis plant was from Shimano. In fact, I think it was Shimano's son. Re: Loomis

Emory and Mike are telling you the truth. In fact, it's probably been close to 10 years since the sale was made.

Shimano will eventually own it all. That is the giant @#$%& sound to China that the USA companies are making trying to compete. Custom builders may benefit (I hope). Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
