. . . Talon Blanks?
Trying to get familiar with what all is available before I begin my first rod and was wondering about Talon. Stumbled into their web site, which seems like they don't update much. The last date mentioned on the site is 1998. How are they compared to, say, Batson products, which seem very popular? Thanks! Re: Ever heard of . . .

Talon is the most recent incarnation of the original Loomis Composites company. It's been Loomis Composites, LCI/Excelon, Talon/Osprey and finally Talon. They make a wide variety of blanks, mostly for OEM rod makers. They are not heavily involved in the custom rod blank business, although they do make a truly wide variety of blank models.
How do they compare to the Batson products? Both have their proponents I'm sure. Batson Enterprises is heavily involved in the world of custom rod building - you saw them in Charlotte at the National Rod Builders Show, you see them here as a sponsor and you see their ad in RodMaker. You see Bill and his staff often participating on this site and interacting with the builders. Of course, that doesn't answer your question as to how the products themselves actually compare, but it might say something about which works harder for your business. ..................... I have used both blanks. I must say I am a Batson fan. Like Tom said, they do alot for the rod building community. For the price, I reccomend batson. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
