when tinishing my rods i inscribe the but tsection using a metallic gel pen
I then use a VERYlight coat of spray acrylic lacquer to kind of fix the ink . the spray acrylic hasn't proven tough enough to stand up alone,so i then over coat with a thin coat of 2 part guide epoxy . i've been using rod smith lately and have been very happy with it's finish, but i'd like to thin it out alittle for this final application. is acetone ok ,or should i consider something else? DO a test finish on a wooden dowel, or some other object. You'll know for sure in 4 hours. I do not think it would be a problem.
If all you are doing is finishing a very small area, try warming the Resin in the microwave for 5 seconds until it is very runny. This will make the epoxy "thinner", but will shorten pot life considerably, expecially if you heat it up too much - but you're only applying it to a short area, so it probably won't matter.
