Going to build a spey rod. Looking for a fast tip action, length 11 to 13 foot. Would like to pay under a 100 bucks for the blank. Would like recommendations on where to get thelonger cork handles . Any info on the subject would be useful.

Bob Meiser did a particularly good article on various types of spey and two-handed rods in a past issue of RodMaker, volume 5 #3.

Bob Meiser is now selling blanks and kits. Check out R.B. Meiser Rods on the left in the sponsors section. Don't know if the blanks are on his site yet , but if not, email him and he will send you a list with pricing and specs.

Batson Forecast speys are supposedly quite nice, especially considering their low price ($70-90!).

Bob Meiser also has just introduced a new switch rod series which look quite intriguing and his reputation can be vouched for by a lot of folks on this board. I personally haven't met him but I have cast a few of the rods he builds and that was enough to convince me that all those people aren't lying.

I've built two spey rods on Forecast blanks. Terrific casting rods and unbeatable value for money. Look at Hook and Hackle

John at Rocky Mountain also has them, and their service is top notch. As of a couple of days ago, they had all of the different blanks in stock.

Got my 13' 8/9wt at Hook & Hackle, along with the Pac Bay preformed spey cork set.
Great blank for the price!

I know Bob Meiser is sitting on some 11'6" 5/6 blanks as well as some 13' 7/8 that are getting good reviews. He will also have the lines dialed in for these rods as well. Cheers
