Kenny I have added pearls and glitter powders into finish before. Nice effect but decided to stay with my old clear flex coat, it still turns heads. It is fun to play games with and I think it might be fun to play with it and Marblizing.

Kenny I have added glitter, that the bait guilders use to my flex coat for some time. I have pearl, red, silver, gold, and they take the plain look out of the finish. The real fine glitter is the only way to go. If you use the stuff from hobby shops, it will stand up and make your finish look terrible. Just make sure when you brush it on, not to let even this real fine glitter puddle up. Keep a close eye on the finish as you first start the dryer.

thanks for the info.i was wondering because i used to paint cars and used it in the clear quite often.on show cars and old hot rods we painted.i saw some extra fine pearl glitter at the hobbie shop today and the wheels started turning.i was thinking about colors like a scarlet or garnet maybe even over metalic silver no cp.with pearl in the clear... i would like to do a flame weave like that someday.

Kenny,I have been using the Glasurit pearls for both marbeling and to add to the finish as a top coat. The soarce is from a body shop.Sometimes its a little tricky getting the pearl to flow out evenly but the effects are real nice..Its a little hard to see the pearl in the photo. All the pigments in this phone came from Glasruit.[www.rodbuilding.org]

kenny
For that mater you can add any tint to the clear and give it a translucent color. The auto tints will be costly, " unless you know some one " Testors or maybe Tap Plastics Tints.

How about gold leaf

Testor's enamel is the best, not only because it's really pretty cheap, but the solvent separates easily so it can be poured off. I've tried two other model maker's enamels and one of them still hasn't separated after three months. For gold, go to Walmart and get "Liquid Leaf."
