SPIRAL FOR WIRE LINE?

I WAS ASKED ABOUT BUILDING A PAIR OF WIRE LINE TROLLING RODS IN SPIRAL. I BUILD ALOT OF WIRE RODS FOR NE STRIPED BASS, BUT NEVER TRIED ONE IN A SPIRAL WRAP. ANY EXPEIRIENCE, PROS,CONS?

It will provide the same benefits regardless of the type line used.

If the rod blank has a very soft tip, one that will be pointing the same direction as the line when under trolling loads, use any tip guide you want. Otherwise, if you don't use a roller tip, the wire will be subject to kinking, weakening the wire. These considerations are true no matter what the guide configuration is.
