broken blank question? add on

thanks for all the advice earlier. I was curious why the blank would break clean. there was no splintering just a clean break?....thanks again

A sharp hit or fracture (like scoring/cutting a piece of glass) could account for it. 98% to 99% of all rod breakages are the fault of the fisherman, even though he may not know it. Failures don't always occur at the time of the original damage - they can take place afterwards leading the fisherman to believe that he didn't do anything to cause the breakage.

This rod didn't break at the very edge of a guide foot, did it?

No ken, it broke between the 4th and 5th guide, no cause to me sharpening the quide feet too much.
