I am working on that Irish themed rod that I posted about several days ago. The customer has opted to go with Mudhole's green anodized with gold ring insert for the guides. I was planning on doing an Irish Flag accent wrap in HT Metallic thread flanked by a single wrap of gold metallic on either side and then the rest of the wrap in black ncp thread up the guide foot to the finish. Well, he has suggested that he wants the entire wrap done in green metallic. I am thinking that it may look like we are going overboard with the green.
Anyone have any suggestions or comments? (BTW- I am working on a "worried olive wolly bugger" to be inserted into this rod for good measure. LOL!) Thanks, Domenic Federico Re: Some direction

You could tell him that you think it's too much green but if he wants it anyway, do it. That way, if he later says he doesn't like how it looks, hopefully he'll remember you warned him.
I wrapped a burgundy blank with burgundy metallic and I think it looks great, but burgundy doesn't jump out at you like green does. Re: Some direction

My .02 cents.
Way to much green. I have never really liked the flashy look of a metallic guide wrap of any color. I like your idea much better, plus it adds dimension to the color scheme and contrast which catches the eye(there is a reason the flag is not one color!).....But he is the customer! You could do two test wraps for him, one in metallic green the other with your idea and let him decide. I am willing to bet he will see the light! Re: Some direction

Do a wrap of each, dont finish them, and show the customer. Then if he still likes all green, at least he saw it first. Re: Some direction
