Bought the Artie Hebert Video

Came in the mail from Mudhole today. Was a bit dissapointed though, as I have been with the previous videos I bought. The quality wasn't real good, which I assume is from being recorded on tape first.

The show-how was pretty good, I learned a lot and will have to try to struggle through a fish wrap now. My only problem was on the cover it says "Learn how to make Diamonds, Chevrons, Fish, Flags, and more". So I assumed it to cover at least those for things. He did a decent job showing Chevrons, touched on Diamonds (although they are very easy), nice job on fish, but no flags and no other wraps. Hm. Did I miss something? Do I need to buy Vol 2 to get the flags? But Vol 2 is weaves. Don't get it.

Have had the Clemens and Flexcoat books for years but learned much more from watching the video I think.

Artie is quite a character. Great guy and maybe the first to self-produce rod building videos on a large scale (they're all done in his basement, filmed by and of him and then dubbed off on his 10 video recorders).

If you do a search here, you can find his name and use his email address to contact him and ask which tape either has or doesn't have the rest of the info you want.

I learned how to build rods and wrap from a few of Arties vids...I actually liked the homemade good ole boy quality.
I was not expecting a hollywood movie-just relative info -and it's there in abundance!
As for flag wraps....Artie makes sure to show his copy of and, suggests finding one for yourself of -
"Custom Rod Thread Art" by Dale Clemen's...The directions for the flag wraps ARE in that book.

Yep, they are, but I'm an idiot and haven't learned how to do a single wrap from them books yet even though I've had them for years.

I felt that way at first too but.....
watch artie wrap the fish wrap and, open Dale's book
to the fish wrap page- at the same time. Watch what Artie does and then
look at the book and see whats written. I bet you'll begin to make since out of it in no time?!

I bought my first rodbuilding kit from Cabelas, which contained Artie Heberts RodBuilding Video. I learned alot about rodbuilding from that video, and went on to purchase everyone of his videos, direct from him.
I have even talked to Artie on the phone and he was gracious enough to answer all of my 101 questions I had then, the only thing missing, is I would like to meet him in person !

I really like the video's that I have from Artie! The "home-made" touch, I find refreshing. He even shows his mistakes. I found them very informative and help. Would recommend them to anyone.

Would love to meet him! Seems to be a very "colorful" man willing to share.
