I called Andy last night to see how he is doing and he returned my call today. He has been busy trying to sell his old house and moving his business. He said he was up late answering phone messages. He had been holding some fly rod blanks for me and I wanted them shipped. I talked him into taking a day off and go kayak fishing at Rockport, Texas aka Heaven to old salts. This will give me a chance to try a 7 wt. rod that I made from a blank I bought from him.
Putter if you read this my first marble job did not come out very well. I used blue as a base coat and streaked with silver metallic. I need more practice. It seems that I put too much of the streaking color and wound up with what looks like a sea gull took a dump on the rod as Andy put it. The first attempt on a wooden dowel came out ok. Practice, practice, practice. Re: Andy Dear is alive and well

Seagull took a dump on the rod.... lovely picture. Thanks. Well, time for lunch!
Good to hear Andy is alive and well. I've been trying to reach him as well, sent him an e-mail today. I know he must be busy moving his business and all. Phil Re: Andy Dear is alive and well

Glad to hear Andy is overworked, errr, doing OK.
Sad to hear that the first marble went bad. It might be less of the silver needed to be brought into the mix with a finer tipped instrument. The toothpicks don't work very well for that because they are so large in diameter. It could also be the properties of the pigment itself or the properties of the finish you used. Both change the effect of the marble; my DVD is being updated with more info that I've found on this just recently (had to do with Glass Coat).
