First guide on steelhead 1264 casting rod?

Setting this up to be a light surf stick. Would your first guide be a 25 or 20? I will be matching it to an ABU 5000 but may occasionally use a 6500 on it.

You can probably get by with a #20. The key here will be keeping the line off the foregrip when under heavy load. So you'll most likely have to string everything up and check how things look on your specific blank. If the line gets down on the foregrip, you'll need more height, so you'd move to a 25 or a higher frame 20. As far as casting goes, a #20 should be more than enough for that size reel and the line I think you'd be using. So we're back to just making sure that under load the line stays off the foregrip.
