In the Library, in Rich Forhan's "Perfect Epoxy Wraps" there is a paragraph on "APPLICATION" In that paragraph he explains how he applies the finish using the 100 rpm motor. But then.......he says he turns off the motor, removes the rubber tip, and THEN turns by hand and does the "eye" side of the guide with a smaller spatula?" I don't understand that. I thought he just turned and applied finish to the whole rod?
And what is the eye side of a guide? Is that in reference to a single foot guide? If it is referring to a double foot guide.....I understand even less. Sorry folks. Just trying to learn how to do it. Re: Finishing Guide wraps with epoxy

The "Eye" side would be the side of the wrap with the guide sticking up from it. I assume that he applies at high speed to get quick coverage and nice edges on the wraps then turns off the motor and goes over by hand to make sure that all wraps are properly covered,
Many builders (myself included) feel that turning by hand gives a much smoother finish. Mike Re: Finishing Guide wraps with epoxy

Hello Jim
The article technique is to apply the epoxy to the all the wraps motor turning the rod, then turn off the motor and turning the rod by hand apply epoxy to the "eye" and back of the guides that were not adequately coated turning the rod. If I can be of help let me know. I have an article with pictures on my web page showing how to use a spatula.
