2 piece blanks

When you buy a two piece blank, assuming you have no scrap from previous rods, what do you use or where do you get the necessary material to make a ferrule? I'm assuming that all 2 piece blanks come with bare ends.

I asked the same question!

With the new graphite blanks, the manufacturers craft them so that they fit together when you get them. Then you wrap over the upper section where they join for a length of at least 1.5 times the diameter of the blank at the joint. Before you do that, check to see if a guide would be located at the joint - in that case you can wrap so that the ferrule wrap incorporates the guide wrap.

Short answer is that you dont have to "make" a ferrule - the two piece blanks have them "built in." At least this is my understanding for the graphite blanks. And the one two piece blank that I have worked with fit together that way. Bamboo and fiberglass maybe a different story.

Hopefully others will post and correct any misconceptions that I am passing along.

Jim
