I bought one of those $15, 7 wt fly rod blanks last year from rodblanks.com. I bought it because I didn’t have a 7 wt but I wasn’t sure what I would use it for. My thinking was maybe a big bass bug rod. Well I found another use for it in the last few weeks, Carp. That rod has put a hurting a bunch of carp and is still going strong. I put a lot of pressure on the fish with this rod with the mindset of if it breaks no big loss, I did this over and over and over and this rod never even fliched. High sticking, not a problem. It is a mod action blank that will cast nice tight loops. I don’t think it has the sensitivity of the high end rods but who needs sensitivity for carp? I think this rod would be at home in any sight fishing situation and I wouldn’t be afraid to throw it at anything in freshwater. I really like this rod! Re: Rodblanks.com $15 blanks

If you ever come down to the Texas Gulf Coast, that rod will make an excellent trout or redfish rod. As a matter of fact, some of us jokingly call the redfish saltwater carp because they look and pull like redfish. Re: Rodblanks.com $15 blanks

Bought one of the 7wt. blanks and put in to work down in Baja. I had that rod bent beyond belief and it passed the test. Great blank for the price...... Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
